Rathlin lies off the coast of North Antrim with a regular ferry service from Ballycastle. Although not officially on the Causeway Coastal Route, it is well worth a detour, allow a minimum of a day and book in advance for the ferry if your travelling during the holiday season. The local name for the island is Raghery, Rachery or Racheri, the main centre is at Church Bay which has a pub, shop, visitor centre and accommodation. The three lighthouses are Bull Point (West), Altacorry (East) and Rue Point a smaller auto light. A network of small roads connect the island. To get around you can walk, hire a bicycle, or book a seat on one of the island tour operators who run seasonal trips to Bull Point and the renown bird sanctuary, local boatmen also offer boat trips around the island.
