Dunseverick Castle is one of the significant ancient sites along the north coast along with Lissanduff at Portballintrae, a strategic fort when the great roads spanned out across Ireland from Tara in County Meath. It also has links to early Christianity in Ireland when Saint Patrick used the location for baptism. If you are visiting Dunseverick harbour, a mile away, it is advisable to use the car park on the main road
and walk down. The harbour road is narrow and not suitable
for campers, mini-buses and vehicles but ideal for walkers and cyclists.
