Carnlough
Carnlough is known for its picturesque limestone harbour, the name means ‘Cairn of the Lake’, the village lies at the mouth of  Glencloy ('Glen of Hedges'). The locality has been settled since neolithic times, the village along with the neighbouring village of Glenarm provide the Start or Finish of the 'Glencloy Scenic Route', a loop drive of two of the nine glens of Antrim. This takes you up Glencloy and down Glenarm with an optional route to Slemish mountain where St. Patrick spent six years of his early life in captivity as a herdsman for a local chieftain, you can find out about this drive in the 'Loop Drives' menu above.
