About the Route

Dunluce Castle by VisulanteA warm welcome to this independent  website for the Causeway Coastal Route, a designated way marked drive around the coast of Northern Ireland between the cities of Belfast and Londonderry, the route also includes nine shorter scenic 'loop' drives for you to explore.  The drive is approximately 120 miles (190 km) in length and  merges with the ' Wild Atlantic Way '  at Londonderry and  the  ' Mourne Scenic Route ' at Belfast.

The landscape varies from seashore to mountain tops, from busy cities to sleepy hamlets and coastal harbours. The main route follows one of our  A class (two lane) roads which leaves both cities on  dual carriageways. Minor single lane roads are only encountered on some of the scenic loop drives.

To experience the drive in a relaxed way, allowing yourself time to visit several of the main attractions and also to explore one or two scenic loop drives you should allow yourself three to five days. Having said that, it is possible to drive it in a day, if that is all the time you have.
